Bara Prasilova czech

Bára Prášilová (b. 1979) is a Prague-based artist whose surreal images balance on the edge of beauty and weirdness, somewhere in between real and fictional setups, originating from her sense of absurdity. This can be seen in her most recent book, Circles (PositiF, 2022), with art historian Thomas Beachdel, PhD.

Her meticulously planned shoots that begin with detailed sketches, custom-made props and costumes lend her images a rare authenticity. Prášilová has exhibited widely and internationally including in Paris, France and United Arab Emirates. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including Czech Grand Design Photographer of the Year in 2009 and 2011, a Hasselblad Masters Award in 2014, and a prestigious Clio Award in 2019.

Recently, Prášilová has branched out into the world of moving images, creating videos based on her stills, which has created another outlet for her to build a new reality.
