ARTIST STATEMENT:
“Night Scene” sheds light on the widespread problems of prostitution, sex tourism, and sexual abuse in Asia. Rather than depicting the woman as mere object, she portrays her as a strong and confident individual seeking refuge from oppressive men and forming connections with the wildlife of the jungle. Using symbolism, Limbourg communicates the deeper stories behind each painting with clarity and insight.
