Kate Baker is an Australian contemporary artist working across mediums. Her work merges photography, film and print technologies with studio glass and metal fabrications, erasing the traditional divisions between them.
Baker locks ghostly, elusive and suggestive images into layers of glass, mirror and metal. Her themes are of a complex human environment, layered with physical, psychological and emotional strata. Recently, her practice has embraced the use of the moving and projected image in the creation of immersive video and sound installations, involving environments created with studio glass elements.
